Here is a great upcoming cultural event!...

We will visit the Spanish Harlem and its fascinating history and people - This is a tour we have done with the group in the past and it was very enjoyable. A great oportunity for those who are new to the group or didn´t have the chance to attend this event last year.

ABOUT THE SPANISH HARLEM
Also know as El Barrio, Spanish Harlem is part of the East Harlem area and starts on East 96th Street approximately up to East 132nd Street, between Fifth Avenue and the FDR Drive.

Walking tour will be entirely guided in Spanish by cuban art expert Lisset Martinez-Herryman, our guide in previous museum tours. Lisset is an art history expert, a Spanish language teacher, and an excelent guide.

ABOUT THIS EVENT

TOUR IS ENTIRELY IN SPANISH - Please be at least upper intermediate level, able to understand spoken Spanish.

We will take a guided walk around the neighborhood and enjoy artworks by significant artists like James de la Vega, Hank Prussing, Marina Gutierrez and Nitza Tufiño, as well as cultural sites, historical buildings, public gardens and, of course, amazing stories of this community with a profound commitment to their cultural and social life.

HOW:
We meet at 5 pm at 103rd St. and Lexington (subway station - #6 line exit), SW CORNER. TOUR STARTS AT 5.30 PM SHARP. Please notice mural on the wall "Neo-Boriken"(1990) by artist Nitza Tufiño as part of the MTA Arts for Transit. Tour will last for about 90 min, after which all those who are interested can join us for dinner at a local restaurant. Bring comfortable shoes!.

RSVP as YES just to let me know you are interested. Payment in advance will guarantee you a spot - group of 24 maximum.
