About The Washington Spanish Language Meetup Group

Bienvenidos a Washington Spanish Meetup

We're glad you found our page. We're a group that gets together several times a month to practice speaking Spanish and to socialize with others who want to learn to speak Spanish. We have three types of meetups. They are as follows:

- We have two conversational Meetups per month. They are held at the same two sites every month.
a) Teaism - Penn Quarter
b) California Tortilla - Courthouse (NoVa)

- Happy hour: If you have suggestions for bars/restaurants in the DC metro area, please give us a shout!

- We have a meetup for beginners each month.

- Plus surprises, like a picnic, a trip to Shenandoah, visits to museums...

I and the assistant organizers always welcome suggestions. Please email us if you have them!

ON THE HOME PAGE ONLY SOME EVENTS ARE SHOWN. TO SEE ALL MEETINGS THAT WE HAVE PLANNED, PLEASE CLICK On the home page on "More from our calendar" and then click on "Upcoming meeting list"!!

Please visit our sponsor. The contribution from this institution enables us to organize this Washington Spanish Language Meetup Group with high professionalism, and to offer you a variety of great events.

Please do share your picture with us, and please do answer your profile questions. We meet because we want to make friends, and friends deserve to know at least something from you. Please be social and kind and show us your picture and answer the few questions we ask you. ¡Gracias!

MEMBERSHIP FEES: Being a member of the group is free, but we need some funds to keep moving! We want really to make the events great, fun, and with the highest level of professionalism. That's why we need to charge for the events. Funds will be destined to pay the monthly Meetup Group fee charged to the organizer by Meetup.com and any expenses incurred in promoting the group and organizing events.

YOU ARE NOT PAYING FOR ANY SERVICE! Please be aware that when you submit a meeting fee, you are not paying for any service to the organizers, but you are just sharing the expenses! Believe me that it's not only time that we are giving gladly to organize the events the best way we can, but very often we must even pay from our own pockets when we aren't able to collect enough money to pay the expenses.

So please, give encouragement, support, help... The group, as any group, needs people who want to share some responsabilities, positive members who can contribute to the community. When you really feel responsible for a group, your attitude is always positive. It doesn't mean that you won't express your concerns; it means that you will see them from a positive perspective.

ABOUT RSVPs

YES rsvp - A YES rsvp means that you are planning to really be there. If you rsvp YES, we expect to see you at the event. We know things happen that you can't control, but then please change your RSVP so that others can attend. Unlike some other groups, we (still :-) do not keep a tally on no-shows and ban you from the group.
In some cases we need your commitment paying before. If we say so, please don't rsvp YES without first paying by Paypal (also with your credit card possible).

MAYBE rsvp Some of our events won't have this option. At some other meetings we need your commitment paying before (we say that in the invitation). In this case you'll have the option of maybe, but 24 hours before the event we'll change automatically all maybes to NO, so that others may attend. If there is enough place, you can still change your NO to YES.

NO rsvp - Please, no NO rsvps. We don't need them. If you are not interested in the event, just ignore it.

MAY I GO WITH MY KIDS? We are a family friedly group!! I try to do as many activities as possible with my family, and whenever possible, I bring my wife and son to the meetings. I hope the group will help you be closer to your family... That's what we need: strong, loving families! So please bring your husband or wife and your kids whenever you think it makes sense and it's possible, but if you need some little break from your husband or wife, just come by yourself! Ha, ha!! And if you don't have them, you might find them here! :-)

I hope that you will enjoy this super great group as much as we, the organizers, do!!

With all we offer, there is no excuse not to become fluent soon!! :-))

Gracias! Nos vemos! Enrique
